Remember That Tables Turn

Sometimes I wonder why people find it difficult to help others. You are in the position you are to help other people. Somebody or a couple of people once helped you so, why don't you give back? I believe that the measure of success is not how much you're worth or how much you have built or anything like that but how many people you helped become better. Helping somebody doesn't necessarily have to be financial, you can help in so many other ways.

Have you thought about encouraging somebody you know really needs it? Sometimes the only thing we as human beings need is knowing that somebody cares and somebody is willing to go out of their way to help. Speaking words of encouragement to somebody over and over again, day after day can actually make that person better.

Have you thought about teaching what you know to someone who could really use it? It could be Math, English, German, Chemistry, how to trade stocks, how to write a good report, etc. If you're self taught, kudos to you but you most likely learnt what you know from somebody else so it will be nice to do another person some good by passing on the knowledge.

Have you thought of being a mentor to someone or some people who could really use you? Be selective because not everybody that applies to be mentored will be serious enough and also willing to put in the effort. Do your weeding out process and select those you feel will be a great fit. Show them the ropes, encourage them along the way, help them out of their stuck. "This is what I did to get this job: A like this, B like that....". "If you really want to get into Medical School, here's what I did that worked for me.". Do you understand?

Life should never be difficult. For people who have the will and determination to succeed, make yourself a good resource to them. Never look down on people who are not where you are today. Do NOT do that because the person who you look down on today could end up being greater than you tomorrow. Remember, tables turn.

You are responsible!

  1. First, i must commend the simple and coherent english used in writing this article.
The message you are passing across is what obtains in the Nigerian society. Those who are more lettered than others give less priority to the act of helping the unlettered.
However, i want to admonish help seekers to always make good use of the information given to them by others.
Take myself for example. A lot of people come to me for help with their Blogs, but their inpatience couldn't let them through the program.

    1. Thank you very much Philip. And yes, I agree with you on the fact that people who need help should make use of the information given to them. Sometimes I feel like those who seek help often expect quick results because they're working with an expert. The people who ask for your help with their blogs expect readership to increase overnight because they see how well you do with yours. I believe a lot of us need to understand that great things take time and patience is key.
